Earlier this month I delivered a workshop to a brilliant group of students at the Freie Akademie Köln (FAK) in Cologne, Germany.

At the same time I was invited to participate in a great exhibition at Arsenali Arts where my work is still on display if you fancy a visit.

CROMÁTICA: V BIENAL DE PINTURA JOVEN

Buenas tardes!

He sido seleccionada como FINALISTA en CROMÁTICA: V BIENAL DE PINTURA JOVEN de Ourense, Galicia.

La inauguración de la Bienal se realizará el día 9 de Junio por la tarde y tendrá carácter abierto.

Esta edición se celebrarà des del 9 de junio 2018 al 22 de septiembre 2018 en el Museo Municipal de Ourense.

Como en ediciones anteriores, el público jugará un papel fundamental en el desarrollo de la Bienal; puesto que su opinión decidirá quién se concede el "Reconocimiento popular". Para ello cada persona podrà votar, a lo largo de la exposición, una de la obras expuestas.

“Este cuadro nace del objetivo de mostrar el rostro de una mujer, rodeada de su propia personalidad, sus recursos para reaccionar a lo que hay a su alrededor, su forma particular de existir. Tiene un carácter propio pero carece de unos rasgos faciales determinados, de modo que cada uno puede imaginarla como le plazca. Ésta persona queda diluida en el fondo del cuadro, hundida, absorbida. Tiene una actitud cansada y a la vez tranquila. Las figuras que pinto no acaban de ser personas: su elemento antropomórfico es insinuado pero en ningún caso puede ser real.”

Anna's Biography: 

Anna started to paint for her friends when she was 19, each painting meant something that connected her with that person as well as what role he or she had in Anna’s life and experiences they had lived together.
Her paintings have now evolved but she still uses many nature references in her work, which is an influence of the landscape and the environment that have seen her grow.

The meaning of the paintings are all in Anna's mind. Often you might recognize many elements that are reminiscent of flowers, vegetables, monsters, masks, people, broken hearts, watchful eyes... They are all part of Anna's, beliefs, traumas, experiences, thoughts, travels ... They are a brief representation of her attempts to decipher the world around her through the artistic expression of painting.

Her pictures will also remind you of patterns for clothing, because it is also one of the fundamental concepts behind Anna's work, to transfer her art to many forms of expression and, one of the ways, is to create a dialog that can be converted into prints for clothing.

In 2013 she started the Social Fashion Monster project at the University of Fashion Design Felicidad Duce in Barcelona. It was her final design-fashion degree project in which she created monsters that come out of the paintings she created at night while she was studying her degree.

The idea for the project came from the observation of today's world, and she found inspiration in the social, political and economic chaos that surrounds us. Her project also speaks about masks, the masks that people put on to hide from the society and feel integrated.

Using these principles as a basis, she continues making an effort to capture in her paintings and designs an alternative to the globalised intercultural world that tends to devalue creativity, standardize ideas, thoughts as well as ways of dressing.

Since the project started she has participated in numerous exhibitions, contests and festivals in the UK, Germany, New Zealand and Barcelona. This has allowed her to internationalize her project and make it evolve also in line with the chances in society through time.
